Saturday, September 25th, 2010 - night time with a chill in the air
Why yes, I am still alive, thanks for asking. I've been busy though. Really busy. Only time to check my email once a day, busy. And I'm goddamn tired. But I thought it was probably about time I continued the seven things meme, before I totally forget about it and start babbling about something else instead. You see, I've been procrastinating my meme duties.
So yes, procrastination. I procrastinate quite a bit. I read somewhere that it was a sign of a psychological defect, but I hardly think that's true. I mean hello! Look at me. My mind is a healthy, devious, smart bastard. So I'm declaring shenanigans on that theory. I'd go find the article in question and link to it but honestly, I can't be assed right now so I'll do it later.
See what I did there?
Actually I don't procrastinate everything, of course I don't. I only procrastinate unpleasant things. I mean show me anyone who's keen to do unpleasant things. Only a halfwit with OCD or a Jim Carrey fan is in a hurry to do nasty things. Or a reality show contestant. Or whoever dares touch Lindsay Lohan without bio-hazard gloves.
I never procrastinate nice things. I mean you put a giant bar of chocolate the thickness of a rugby player's leg in my fridge and see how long it takes me to devour it. Go on, try it. I haven't timed this, but I'm willing to bet that before you can spell 'procrastinate' that bar will be cozy and safe in my belly. So obviously I don't have a problem per se, just a tendency to be selective about which tasks I perform in a timely fashion.
I was actually going to write out a list of things I procrastinate and things I don't but then I thought, 'Ah screw it, I'll do it later.'
Because that joke never gets old.

I have procrastinated all day. I am REALLY good at it. And one should do things that one is good at. I bet you feel about Jim Carrey how I do about Ben Stiller. I don't trust those kinds!
ReplyDeleteThe bio-hazard glove bit totally cracked me up, Veggie.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Good to see you back to blogging :)
You are a panic, as ususal, Veg!
ReplyDeleteYou know what other procrastination joke never gets old?
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you the answer some other time.
I wish I had a time machine, so that I could abduct Lindsay Lohan before she started doing cocaine and dying her hair. (I feel like one caused the other.)
ReplyDeleteOh well - I'll do it tomorrow.
Ho ho, now I do joke as well!
Hi Veg - I don't procrastinate, I just PRIORITISE! And the good stuff always has a higher priority.... that's how it crumbles....
ReplyDeleteI was going to read this post but I'll do later!
ReplyDeleteSee!
I done a joke.
Right there!
A joke!
Yay.
Jules: I believe I feel the same way about Stiller as I do about Carrey. So yay for that. Man, I hate watching those guys.
ReplyDeleteReenie: Well you know it's true,Mo. That girl's dangerous.
Macy: You see, that is what I mean. You just put it so much better. It's prioritizing. That's it totally. I feel so much better now.
TJ: Not bad at all for a drunk on a Saturday evening. :)
Eva: I like that! A panic.
ReplyDeleteWait...is that good? I'm not sure that's good.
Ed: Groan. Don't go using that in you stand up, man. Seriously. :)
Steve: Yes, the nubile, curvy, red headed Lohan before she became a skanky coke ho. If only someone had done that.
My favorite procrastination poster:

I have found that as I age, I can't tell the difference between procrastination, and just being a grumpy bastard..
Sticking two procrastination gags into one blog post takes some doing. You pulled it off with style, grace, and an almost supernatural talent for slacker based puns.
ReplyDeleteAnd because of that, I'm in.
Oh, man! Everyone already made the same procrastinate jokes I was going to crack! And all because I kept putting off dealing with all the blogs piling up in my reader.
ReplyDeleteTotally unoriginal now. Sigh.
I'm only an average crastinator. Someday I hope to make it to the pro level.
ReplyDeleteI'm a procastinator too. I often start things and don't fin
ReplyDeleteSkypop: Haha, that is SO TRUE. Laziness is an immediate payoff. I should be set then.
ReplyDeleteDan: Yes style and predictibility. But hey, it's who I am, man!
Robin: Hahaha, you have to get up pretty early to get there first around here. You just procrastinated yours till now.
Elly: Groan. :) I can't really match that.
Carissa: Oh the jokes are fast and heavy now. For the record, I laughed.
I love that I've been away from blogging for a while and you're only up to #3.
ReplyDeleteHere ya go, lady.

Hey, open the door, what's taking so long in there? Do you have the water running? I'll bet you are procrastinating, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteDeclaring shenanigans on theories is one of my favorite things to do! How did you know that?
ReplyDeleteAnd I've been MIA too, so you won't hear why don't you post more from me? Even though I adore your blog.
I procrastinate things that will bring me in contact with stupid people.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I don't get much work done.....
Procrastinators unite!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete(tomorrow)
Yeah... it's getting old.
:)
My family motto is, “Why procrastinate if your wrist isn’t tired?”. It’s stood me in good stead all my life. It’s been very handy during times of famine.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day (when you get around to it), Boonie
No, really. It means you're crazy.
ReplyDeleteBut that's ok, because we can be crazy together.
I'd high five you, but I can't lift my arm right now. Too heavy. Also I was supposed to be doing something important. I think. Hmm.
Procrastination is just a sign of a considered mind. Never hurry anything truly important. It's like drinking Irn Bru in a hurry. You just get mind burps.
ReplyDeleteI've procrastinated posting a comment until now.
ReplyDeleteprocrastinaaation! (i was singing) (i don't know why) but seriously dude. who wants to do things anyway?
ReplyDeleteBeck: I know! I can be counted on for slowness. I like to be reliable in at least one thing in life!
ReplyDeleteElly: When my internet connection stops being run by two squirrels on a treadmill I will check that out, thank you man.
Eric: Amongst other things, Tex, yes!
Lola: Well I guess as well as procrastination I'm also good at psychic ablities! I'm awesome.
Kimmie: Ditto. On all of that. :)
Cindy: Hahaha, dude, it NEVER gets old.
Boonie: I'm not touching that with yours, Sir. (that's what she said)
Ms. OWO: Who wants to be sane? Who? Show me that person and I'll show you the crazy one. (what?)
Madame: I like the way you always see things. I want your brain in my head. At least the part that makes sense to me for things like this.
Buffster: I see what you did there. Very good!
Becky: I think you pretty much said it best. Who indeed wants to 'do things'? Not me! Heavens no.
I dub you "Procrastination Station."
ReplyDeleteDammit! I thought I was the only one who used that joke. Apparently I have put off being original too. Bah-dum-dum-sssss, "Thank you, thank you very much. I'm here until Tuesday, be sure to try the hotwings." - G
ReplyDeleteThink of it as savoring the meme. Or savouring - however you like.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to comment on your blog for awhile now.
ReplyDeleteEvil Twin: And I accept that label Evil Twin. With pleasure!
ReplyDeleteGeorgina: Hahaha, better late than never. Like I said, it never gets old. Or does it? Maybe...
Lady: Yes, a spicy little meme with a fruity undertone and a sweet little nose. (huh?)
Vodka: Well. I'm happy you got around to it! When not drinking vodka or inhaling beef drop by again and do it again.
I'm with BeckEye. I took two weeks off of blogging and was afraid I'd missed tons of stuff. But nah. Turns out almost everyone else was playing hooky too. So yay!
ReplyDeleteThe date of this comment tells you all you need to know about my awesome procrastination skills :)
ReplyDeleteHiya popped by your blog because discovering new 'random' blogs is a great way of procrastination and avoiding getting other things done. And I'm too tired to cater to my thoughts having a rather loud Ninja party in my head, so I'm avoiding everything! : )
ReplyDeleteLoving the title of your blog btw
"Only time to check my email once a day, busy." - that IS busy.
ReplyDeleteWow! See what you've done here??? Gone and posted a CRYPTIC WARNING it will be at least a month before your next post...
ReplyDeleteThat's procrastination for you!!
Knock knock :)
ReplyDeleteChecking up on you. All well?
Cora: I was hoping no one would be posting while I was gone but yikes, SO MANY BLOGS TO READ my head might explode.
ReplyDeleteWords: The date of this response sees your procrastination and raises it by about a mile :)
Undertaker: Ha, hope your ninja party in your head didn't kill you. I hate when that happens! Pfft!
Joey: I know! Sometimes not EVEN once a day. I was that lazy. Plus it was kinda nice having a break.
Macy: You can just read me like a book can't you? And you were spot on. One month today. Ha!
Mo: I am fine miss R. I am lazy. But I am fine!
